Virtua co-founder Penn Camille Lat recently shared her knowledge with other members of the outsourcing industry in a special talk. Lat also tackled the various challenges the industry faced and the future it is headed.
Virtua Head On Improving The Business Process For Outsourcing Firms
Dubbed the Outsourcing Agency Captains’ Mastermind Weekend, the two-day event happened last Nov. 25. It was the brainchild of the Network of Outsourcing Agencies (NOA), a local organization aiming to help outsourcing firms create better practices for their clients. NOA also wants to improve the industry as a whole.
For her talk, Lat focused on how outsourcing firms can improve their operations. She noted that these firms can sometimes struggle as they try to meet the demands of different clients. Lat says an improved business operations strategy can help them overcome these challenges.
Lat says one of the essentials of an effective business process for an outsourcing firm is writing everything down. She says that firms can easily get lost when working with multiple clients. By mapping and documenting their processes, Lat said they can better keep track of what’s happening.
The trick, she says, is to define the process as if you are writing for someone from outside the department or company. Lat says this encourages companies to simplify their workflow collaborators and clients.
The Virtua CEO also encourages her fellow outsourcing heads to continue building their knowledge library. She said this will greatly help them adapt their processes to changing business needs.
Building A Better Outsourcing Industry
Other speakers in the forum touched upon several other critical aspects of running an outsourcing firm. That includes creating the right setup for the would-be outsourcing firm. Speakers also tackled the challenge of ensuring profitability for these businesses. Lastly, the forum touched upon the legalities of running an outsourcing firm.
Lat said that joining the Mastermind Weekend was an eye-opening experience for her. She remarked that she had to figure out everything before when establishing Virtua. Interacting with other outsourcing firm owners helped her better understand what she is doing.
The Virtua head added that the experience also helped her voice out her thoughts on the matter. She said these people fully understand what she and company co-founder Francis Guintu went through and were able to give her additional wisdom.
With that, Lat encouraged other local outsourcing first to join NOA. She said this will be a great opportunity for starting and established firms to learn more from each other. Lat added that it can also help the industry grow further in the long run. If you are interested in joining NOA, visit their website to learn more.
