Our Story
Virtua didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with two people who experienced firsthand what happens when you’re trusted, empowered, and given the opportunity to grow.
Long before remote work became mainstream, Penny Lat was freelancing while raising two young children, searching for a career that allowed her to succeed at work without sacrificing her family. Around the same time, Francis Guintu, whose background was in training, discovered his passion for helping people perform at their best through coaching, and collaboration.
Their paths crossed at a SAAS startup, where Penny joined as an Executive Assistant before stepping into Customer Support. What started as helping customers quickly evolved into designing workflows, building knowledge bases, creating automations, and scaling the company’s support operations. As the business grew, Francis joined the team, and together they built a support organization trusted to run independently.
That experience formed a simple belief: great remote teams are molded by empowering people, and not by outsourcing tasks. When people feel trusted, included, and supported, they take ownership, solve problems, and create better outcomes for customers.
Then an unexpected opportunity arrived. The trust they had earned led to a referral from the startup they were supporting to another fast-growing company. It was proof that what they had built wasn’t just a team but a way of working that others wanted to replicate. Penny hesitated because they weren’t an agency. Francis asked one simple question:
"Why not start one?"
That question became the beginning of Virtua. Today, we help businesses build remote teams they can rely on while creating meaningful opportunities for talented professionals to grow. HR Manager
Lara is the HR Manager, leading initiatives focused on company culture, employee engagement, and modernizing recruitment processes through AI-driven solutions. She helped develop “Ask Vee,” the company’s internal AI assistant, and played a key role in leading the company to a #7 ranking in the 2026 Best Workplaces in the Philippines under the Small Business category.
Janice Mapaye
Head of Finance and Accounting
Janice is the Head of Finance and Accounting, overseeing the company’s fiscal health while leading digital transformation efforts through a dual-platform accounting system that supports both global operations and local tax compliance. Starting as a one-person finance team in 2021, she successfully scaled the department into a structured unit with dedicated payroll and accounting support while helping build a cloud-based, real-time financial reporting system.

Kenneth is an IT Specialist, focused on improving IT support efficiency and promoting data privacy awareness aligned with National Privacy Commission guidelines. Outside of work, Kenneth enjoys collecting action figures, reading novels and manga, and watching anime.
